brains are stupid

I don't wanna study anymore! I don't want to learn about the limbic system, and the several different types of glia, and about the frontal, tempral, parietal, and occipiatal lobes! Or how oligodendrocytes serve the same funcion in the central nervous system as the Schwann cells in the peripheral nervous system! Really, it's not like these are things I don't want to know about, but why can't I just know!! Why do I have to read about it! Why doesn't osmosis work with the printed word!
Then when I'm done learning all about the process of apoptosis and several others, I get to study Anthropology! And then take a test for my intro to computers class to prove that I'm not retarded. Only, there's a catch- I apparetly AM retarded because the stupid computer class is actually giving me trouble! I blame Mom, she must have passed me the "computers do have feelings and do hate you" gene instead of the much sought "I don't really grow hair on my legs" gene that she selfishly hoards.

I hate school!

It's not that bad. I'm just frustrated and want to take a vent break. Sorry. I haven't called my parents in a while, or Kelley. I should probably do that. I proabably won't today though, I'm not sure why. Maybe I'll call Kelley.

It will be okay. In a couple of days, all the tests will be over and you can get back to not studying, and reading the book that really matters: Crown of Swords. :-)

Hehehe...I got that 'I don't really grow hair on my legs' gene...but I must warn you, its not a dominant gene, so I don't reap all the benefits mom does. So, it's not that she hoards it, it's just that I got it first! MUHAHAHAHAHAHA

Hurry up and finish Wheel of Time so I can hound you into reading Sword of Truth!

:)

Wow, so this is daylight.

So, I think I fixed the whole sleep schedule thing. However, in its own way, it's just as bizzare. I go to bed at 10 pm. I'm actually quite sleepy at 10, it's an odd feeling. Then I wake up briefly at 4 am to use the bathroom. I don't know why, sleep never required a potty-break before (except mabe in high school, but I'm not sure) Then I go back to sleep to wake up at 6:30. Seriously, The other day I felt like I slept in when I woke up at 8 am! It really is perfect for my schedule, but it's just so strange! Mom, if you read this, I know this is close to how you live, but to be perfectly honest, I always thought you had some supernatural gift or something. There is sooo much daytime! The sun is up for soooo long! And where did all the dark go?! It's like, 9:50 pm now, so I'm tukered out, so g'night!

Yeah, this whole sleeping-like-a-real-person thing is different. If we can keep it up, I think I kind of like it.

Of course, this Friday is going to throw that all to hell.

ryn: yeah I'm gonna try, and the great great awesome cool thing is that I'm keeping my dentist in natchitoches. So every time I get something done I go to Natchitoches probably the night before if its convenient for everyone.

My sleep is still pretty messed up. Although, I did inexplicably wake up at 9:37 this morning. Maybe I'll get on a more normal sleep schedule now. (I'm not holding my breath though.)

F*cked up sleep!

Aaaaaarrrggghhh!
Okay, here's the deal. I can't sleep when it's dark anymore. This whole house made an attempt the other day to fix our sleep cycles. So when we all stayed up until dawn we all continued staying up. The others ended up taking naps at some point in the day, but Nathan and I managed to stay awake until 6:30 pm and then we went to bed. A bit early maybe, but if we got up when the alarm went off then we would have gotten 12 hours of sleep, and after staying up so long I figured we might need it anyway. So Then I woke up at 2:30 am. Okay, that's fine, I'm just up a bit early. Four hours early isn't the end of the world. So what if I'm awake for the day at a time when I'd still be up for the previous night even with a semi normal sleep cycle. So I stayed up. Nathan got up a bit later and we had a nice breakfast and continued to have a rigorous and exhausting day. So nighttime rolls around again. Well, we don't have to go straight to bed at 10, right? We could stay up 'till about 12 and be fine. Apparently it doesn't matter how exhausting my day is. Sleep happens in the light and wakefulness in the dark, so I read and Nathan worked on the computer until 4:30 am!!! Then to make matters worse, neither of us got up until 5:30 pm!!!! The only reason I did is because I have a lot of work to do tonight. Nathan's still asleep! He says he's gonna try to sleep until tomorrow, but I just don't see it happening. So now my plan is to do my homework, got to walmart and get some sleeping pills. Take them no later than midnight. Sleep my medicated sleep until 6:30 am and begin my equally exhausting day that has no chance of ending any earlier than 4:00 pm, maybe not until 8:30. If this doesn't work (and it won't) does anybody else have suggestions? I'm stuck as a vampire here! I want to sleep like a person!

hmmm...
warm bath or sleepytime tea right before bed? Some physical exercise about an hour before bed?

I dunno. My sleeping schedule is pretty wacked too. I've been going to bed at about 4:00, though I try to get up by 11:30, so I can convince myself that it is a somewhat reasonable sleeping schedule.

Take sleeping pills at least 8 hours before you need to wake up. 9 is better.

hey bridget. I'm rather amused to find you in your situation when I can't seem to stay away past 12:30am and this morning I woke up at 9 rather involuntarily. HOW FREAKY!!!!

so like yeah, I had no intention of having a normal sleep cycle, completely accidental. I'm sure my indifference will screw it up sometime soon :o)

good luck on yours.

I've found that it's hard to drastically change sleep schedules in one sitting. Normally, when I was doing that sort of thing, I would aim for a 4-6 hour schedule shift every two days.

Also, I don't trust sleeping pills. Booze works better. :)

Ok, last night mine got just as messed up. So I went and laid in bed like a good girl at 3:30, at 5:30 I was still awake. (damn insomnia) So at 11:00 Dad called, to tell me he was going to send the King Cake. And at 11:30 he called again to tell me he sent the King Cake. I let the answering machine pick up the first time, but called him right back, and then actually got to the phone in time for the second call. Then I was kinda awake, so I surfed the internet for a while...you should check out ehealthinsurance.com if you're still possibly interested in health insurance Bridget...and then went back to sleep around 12:15 or so...and woke up for the day at 3:30. yup, I have no idea what time I'll be able to go to sleep tonight (or tomorrow)

um, yeah

by the way, it's after 5 am, and Kent, Chanel, EJ and I are all awake. I don't think anybody is going to bed any time soon. Nathan's at work, but I bet he'd be awake anyway. Crazy.

You crazies. You guys need to start living like normal people. The fact that one of your roommates works graveyards is no excuse to stay up all night and sleep all day.

(Well, maybe it's sortof an excuse for you...him being your husband and whatnot...)

I agree with simo, start sleeping like normal people!
And a happy birthday to you and nathan. :-)
Oh, and in response to the note you left on my diary, if this had been the first time Andy has lied to me I wouldn't have a problem trusting him. The problem is that the times Andy has lied to me are to numerous to count, he has a real problem with lying. He does it all the time, without thinking. And that doesnt' mean that I'm second guessing him all the time now, I still trust him, but with important things there's always the suspition that he's not telling the trueth.

um, title!

Well, school starts tomorrow and I will have to wake up bright and early at... wait a minute, lets try that again. School starts tomorrow so I will have to wake up eventually and lazily check out what's going on with my internet course. Sweet. I do't have real class except on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Yay! But my first class starts at 8 am. Booo! But It was the only section open for that class, which I need, and its with Dr. Hansen. Yay! (I think that's worth another) *ahem* Dr. Hansen. Yay! Tuesday will be my last first day to wake up early for school, until I'm a grad student. Yay!!!

So here begins my final push until graduation, then a real person job so nathan can go to school full time (and hopefully not work the audit anymore) and everything will be great. We saw Nathan's family this past weekend, and so now I'm going to express a tiny gripe I have with Nathan's Mom. It's really not big. It seems every time she remembers that she wants to, and she always wants to, she asks me how school is going. That's fine, I tell her. We discuss what my minor and Major are, and then she says, every time without fail, "And what are you going to do with that." I have no real solid plans. I know perfectly well that I'm still gonna struggle when I get out of school. She just has to say this with a "you foolish child" tone, that I don't appreciate. I can't wait until I do have a real job that pays well with benifits just so she'll quit asking. Okay, that's all.

Nathan's birthaday was a few days ago, it was mostly uneventful. The poor dear had to work, but Jay and Sarah came and brought him a balloon and a cake, I thought that was sweet. Then Later that night, Daisy and Joe came up to see him/us. That was really fun. He's 24. I didn't have a present for him. I felt kina bad. We were kinda broke. My birthday is coming up. I'll be 23. I have class at 8 am for my birtday. Yay! I hope that Nathan doesn't feel like he needs to get me anything. Certainly not anything big. He always does, he's much more free (freer?) with the giving thing. I think that makes me less good. Hmm. But seriuously Nathan, I just want a good happy day, and if it has to, that can wait until the next day.

I let my Mom know where this diary thing is. I don't know if she'll ever read it, but now I can't tell on myself too much. (: Not that I ever do anything bad. (:

I was really hoping that I could adjust myself to going to bed earlier before Tuesday, but it's almost 5 am now. I think I failed.

I will ramble more later.

See ya!

You insane little girl... what ARE you going to do with that.. "no solid plans" is UNACCEPTABLE. [tries to pretend he's not a hypocrite].

Actually, I'm in the exact same boat, except that with my major nobody thinks to ask such silly questions... which might be the primary reason I chose to continue it instead of switching to philosophy... :)

Bridget, you can say anything you want. You are an adult and married so you are free. Besides I know you better than you think and I will love you no matter what. You're not my problem anymore. Love, Mom P. S. I do read it.
